Research Using MOC

Modular Approach to Cloud Security (MACS)

The Modular Approach to Cloud Security (MACS) project is charged to address the grand challenges in building secure cloud services. MACS is funded by a 5 year, $10 million Frontier grant from the National Science Foundation’s Secure and Trustworthy Cyberspace (SaTC) program.

ChRIS Research Integration Service:
Medical Analytics in an Open Cloud

ChRIS (Children’s Research Integration Service) is a web-based medical image platform that allows for various forms of medical image processing (for example, MRIs). ChRIS itself is comprised of multiple open source projects hosted on GitHub with the intention to make the research and capabilities available to other hospitals and institutions.

Automatic Configuration of Complex Hardware

A modern network interface card (NIC), such as the Intel X520 10 GbE, is complex, with hardware registers that control every aspect of the NIC’s operation from device initialization to dynamic runtime configuration. The Intel X520 datasheet documents over 5600 registers; yet only about 1890 are initialized by a modern Linux kernal. It is thus unclear what the performance impact of tuning these registers on a per application basis will be.
